you can fill out the FAFSA for the 07/08 academic year, which starts with summer. contact your school to see if they have a form you need to fill out or maybe you just need to notify them that you are planning to attend summer classes.
the amount of financial aid you're eligible for (loans only - i don't know many schools that offer scholarships & grants over the summer - although if you're PELL eligible, you can receive that over the summer) will then be divided by the number of terms you'll be attending. so if you're only going to attend summer classes, you'll have your full loan eligibility of the year for summer. if you're taking summer and fall courses, the eligibility will be divided by two. if you're taking summer, fall, and spring courses, divided by three. (this is all based on how many credits you're taking, etc.)
bottom line - just talk to your school's financial aid office for details on how you can get your loans to cover summer.

For me, my most interesting courses are biology and psychology. That's probably a good thing since I'm becoming a psychiatrist and need both.
