Show them a fork. Place a barrier between them and the fork. Put a barrier between them and their hands. put a spoon or knife in their hands, where the blade of the knife or the spoon portion of the spoon is covered, so they can only feel the handle. Ask them what it is. keep showing them the fork. It might work.

Actually, I don't understand what you are getting at. I'm not sure if you aren't communicating the question or if I'm not understanding it.
But.... If you are speaking literally, having a fork is a yes or no thing in my mind - either they have a fork or they don't
Its not an existential thing.
If however, you are speaking metaphorically - making someone feel comfortable eating with their hands or chopsticks or something as they do when eating with the fork they are accustomed to, then I suggest simply letting them know its ok to feel a little odd at first - that's part of the experience of trying something new.
If they are not comfortable with that, or are actually having problems eating in the case of chopsticks, then just let them have a fork.
My sister for instance learned how to use chopsticks very quickly. I on the other hand have a very hard time with them. We go out for sushi and whatnot on occasion and she just laughs at me when I just use my fingers.
I try, but I'm not about to go hungry for my failed efforts. Some day I'll figure it out and when I do, I'll use them - with Japanese food, its part of the experience.

So, is this a symbolism of life and having the right tools to enjoy life to the fullest? If that is the case, encourage her, build her up, remind her that the world is hers, and that asking for and accepting help is power. Like the help of a fork..............you can accomplish things so much more gracefully and efficiently if you use the tools available. :)
Update:
OK............so go to a party store and get that plastic fork that is silver in color and looks like the real stuff. =)

As you say, its a tool to pick things up with that one eats. It differs from the other tools for eating because it can be used as a shovel or a picker. Slide the fork on their arm so they feel its wide flatness, then lift the fork up leaving the tangs on their arm so they feel the points. That should do it.

What do you mean, how do you make them feel like they have a fork? (I'm not pretending I don't know what you mean...i really don't know what you mean.) Why are you trying to make someone FEEL like they have a fork? Just give them a fork.
This is the strangest question I've seen yet.
OK...this has got to be a joke...but just to humor myself, I'll say just tell him to wash his own damn fork.
You know what...I have to star your question, because I think you've succeeded in writing the weirdest question ever. You've got us all stumped. Good job.

I would think by giving them a fork. this is a very weird mind game if that's what you are trying to do. why would you want someone to only THINK they have a fork?

You have a very odd sense of humor, but I have to admit, imagining someone asking to help them feel as if they have a fork is a pretty funny image.

What in the world are you talking about? You gonna give a blind person a spoon and tell them its a fork or something?
*head explodes while contemplating the question*

Uhhh....just give him a real fork?
And to the guy above me....
Don't feel bad about the sushi. She's the one that's not eating it right. Sushi is supposed to be a finger food. :)
