If you give it regular service, never drive on salted roads and repair as needed, it's will run 1,000,000 Miles or

it will still be running long after you are dead and buried :)

First of all, to those of you out there dissin' Fords... screw you! I have owned nothing but Ford/Mercury and I have had great cars. My Mustang got me 152,000 Miles before I even replaced the clutch. My 2002 Explorer got me 168,112 miles before I traded it in for a 2005 F-150 which is going strong at 72,981 miles. I also have a 2007 Ford Freestyle which is going strong at 13,779 miles.

Your cars will be good to you as long as you are good to your cars.

Keep up with all scheduled maintenance and such.

The current record holder for a Ford is 347,000 miles... a 1992 FORD Taurus. And that FORD Taurus is still truckin'.

Eat that, Toyota.

Hello,
One the regular service intervals and a regular oil check are maintained according to the service schedule then A petrol Car will take 200,000 without any major over haul and a diesel will take 300,000 good old Rudolf Diesel!! inventor of the Diesel engine!
Hey I just came back to edit this and seen a lot of anti-ford feeling well there probably driving a FIAT!! Fix It Again Tomorrow! I drive a Skoda!
The information about mileage still stands though! Regardless of make.

You've heard the slogan "Ford Tough"? Their pickup trucks are rugged and seemingly indestructible, at least ours is. As for cars, Ford tends to have a good reputation, albeit they tend to be heavier than Japanese cars and subsequently have less gas mileage. But since I come from a Ford owning family, with proper maintenance, they'll run well over 100,000 miles.

today's Ford cars & trucks can go easily 200,000 plus miles.
The secret, as with all cars, regular maintenance, it's in the owner's manual, follow it, you'll be fine.
another key thing, is to make sure whereever you go to have your car serviced, you trust the mechanic, there are still a lot of shops, even the dealerships that take advantage of people who don't know anything about what they're really paying for.

on my 1989 aerostar we have 250,000 miles on it and it has the original engine and transmission. I also have 1994 f-150 w/ a 5.8 L 150,000 miles and still orginal engine and transmission, I've taken 3 trips up and back down stevens pass towing a 5000 pound trailer. Finally a 2001 ford focus 106,000 miles and still going on it orginal trans and engine, only been in shop for tires, brakes and fluid changes. As long as you follow the service intervals in the owners manual you will be fine.

Several years ago Ford ran an ad that some guy in Montana, I think, had a F100 pickup with almost 1 million miles on it. No followup ad so I don,t know. Popular Mechanics is running a request for people with high mileage vehicles to drop them ad e-mail with info. so maby they are planning a story.

Assuming you perform regular maintenance, and take care of the car, under normal conditions a Ford should last you quite a while.

Last Ford I had, had 380,000 miles with few repairs, but the car was wrecked, so that ended it.
You drive a car right, and maintance it, it will last forever.
