I don't know in what city you're located, but call the local Chapter of the St. Vincent's de Paul Society. In our area, they will assist you with your furniture needs dependent upon whether you meet certain financial conditons. Also, if you are in San Diego, Father Joe's Charities will do the same.
If you are in the military, Operation Homefront will match your needs with donars who have what you need.

The Catholic organization Saint Vincent Depaul run stores stocked with all kinds of things people have donated to them - including entire sets of furnature. And, since everything they sell was donated free, they charge much less than you would have to pay elsewhere.
Hopefully, there is one of these places near you. If there is, you would do well to check it out.
