everything in moderation--but just to let you know state troopers use coke to clean up blood spills, grease monkies use it to eat off the gunk around battery cables on autos and a t-bone steak will perish completely in a bowl of coke--imagine what it does to your insides!

crazy c,

No, it isn't, depending on what you mean by "large doses."

There has been so much panic over artificial sweeteners that it's hard to find the actual facts about it, but research has shown that there are no bad effects that artificial sweeteners cause. Many of them have been around for decades (even Splenda has been around since the late 70s), and no harmful effects have ever been attributted to them.

It may be that some people are allergic to them, but most people are not, and for them, they are perfectly safe.

Now, having said that, a question:

Why would you want to drink "large doses" of it? First, it's far more expensive than it needs to be, so you're spending more than you need to for a drink. Plus, while it doesn't hurt, it doesn't do any good. The same could seem to be said of water, but not really, since water is essential to life. Branch out into it. It's pretty good stuff, really.

If not water, then get used to green tea, which has been shown to have pretty strong health benefits (just don't brew it in too-hot water, which destroys its health benefits. Use water about thirty degrees below boiling, around 180 degrees F). You'll have to get used to it, but it's worth doing.

But if you decide to stay with diet coke, go ahead. It at least doesn't hurt.

Oh, and the part about coke being used to dissolve stuff, you can do the same thing with plain soda water. That's because whenever we dissolve carbon dioxide in water it forms a weak solution of carbonic acid. When the carbon dioxide effervesces out of solution, the coke becomes plain flavored water.

Yes. Diet Coke and all other soft drinks have caffeine. Too much caffeine is a cause of osteoporosis.

But everything in large doses is bad. As they say, "All things in moderation."

Without sounding stupid...ANYTHING in large doses is bad for you!

What specifically is it about Diet Coke that worries you?

In terms of toxicology anything could be a poison, it's the dose that is important.

Its bad for your teeth yes. Although it is diet coke, there is still lots of sugar in it which in large quantities will eat away at your teeth and cause decay

The aspertame used to sweeten it is. I would recommend cutting out soda altogether. Try fresh fruit juice for a sweet drink or put a little lemon juice in your water. Soda in any form isn't a good thing and nothin in large doses is ever good. Best of luck!

Yes, unfortunately, it is. My doctor always yells at me for how much Diet Coke I drink. Water really is better because it has no caffeine, no sugar and hydrates the body instead of dehydrating it.

diet coke is bad for you. The neutra sweet causes your insulin levels to spike.

Dreaking regular coke with the sugar would not be worse for you than the diet variety.

some people say aspertame (which is found in diet coke) is not good for you in large doses. personally, i think that *anything* in large doses is bad for you. i mean, just recently some lady died from drinking too much water...so my mantra is "everything in moderation".
