Diesel all the way, Hybrids have batteries that cost big $$$$, no matter if its a Toyota, or a Honda. Plus VW has a better warranty than the Honda and its a nicer, and much, much safer car, with mileage around 50mpg with the automatic DSG tranny. VW is a force to be respected.

I do not know anything about the VW but I have had the Civic Hybrid for three years. I have had no problems at all and they even gave me a free update on the electric battery when they determined there was a way to make it better. I live in Atlanta and commute 27 miles each way. When only I drive my car, I get about 48 mpg with combined surface street and highway miles. When it is highway only, I can get up to 60 and no less than 55, depending upon hills and other conditions. You get a great tax break on your income taxes the first year you own an alternative fuel vehicle as well!

Take Accord! Jetta TDI is good and practical car, but i think that Accord is better than VW. Accord is the car that worth its price!

Go with the Accord. The TDI is nice, and can be easily converted to biodiesel (check your area for availability) but is pricy to fix, and, in my opinion, not a well-finished as the Accord.

The Hybrid is more of a "set-it-and-forget-it" kind of operation where you can use regular fuel and drive like normal, but with fantastic mileage. Good Luck!

Drive them both if you haven't already. They are two very different cars and a simple test drive may lead you to your answer.

The TDI is a very reliable engine but I know many people who have had problems with their VWs (little annoying things like electrical issues, etc.)

Diesel,it will last 600,000 miles if you change timing belt as instructed. Hybrid batteries will go in 4 years costing $8000 to replace.

Hybrid.... It saves more gas... The price for diesel is expensive and the car usually noise.
