My 13 year old ran away from home 6 years ago. I reported her as a run away. When she was found she told the police that I kicked her out, wouldn"t feed her or buy her clothing. All of which were not true. I haven't talked with her since but she is trying to make contact and I am not trusting enough in her to even get near her now. It has been 6 years and I can't get over it. We were so very close.

Six years is a long time for a little girl to grow up mentally. That would make her 19 now, right? There's really no reason why you can't be a part of your own daughter's life. That's just selfish, really. Kids that young say stupid things. You're supposed to be the adult in the situation. Act like it.

Children lie for illogical reasons sometimes. She was very young and still is. Please, seek family counseling to help mend this rift. Children need their parents.
