It would seem that there would be a certain level of purity and sinlessness to be chosen as the "Holy Mother" in the first place. (I mean, let's face it, it must have been a tough story to sell) I don't doubt her sinlessness and yes, I have gone to her hundreds of times for help and influence with her son. And I am always in awe of her greatness and holiness. I do know she has answered me with only the gentleness of the mother of the most High. I am curious to know how others perceive Mary. Imagine the strenght and resolve she had to have to see her son crucified. What are your feeling?

Catholic teaching is that God SAVED Mary from the stain of original sin and SAVED her from falling into personal sin. This is widely misunderstood by Protestants, as you can see by some of the responses you have received. Yes, she did have a savior, and no, she was not divine. Her soul remained in the state of that of a baptized infant.

First of all, if you use the term "holy" in most biblical context, you will find that it means "to be put to use" or "to be put forth to it's or one's proper use". If you prefer a more modern definition: "dedicated or devoted to the service of God, the church, or religion".

I was raised Catholic, but came to a rebirth in the Lord three years ago. To answer your question, Mary couldn't have been found sinless, as that would be extrabiblical. Only Jesus Christ was found sinless.

However the incredible character of Mary cannot be questioned. She had to be a woman of strength and integrity. God would not have chosen her for such a mission and life otherwise. To know you have bore the Son of God must have been overwhelming and even further humbling.

A point of note though... there is nothing in the biblical context that supports to worship of Mary. I guess a return question which I should consider posting would be why do people diefy the mother of Christ when she was only a woman?

No offense, but I've experienced the death of a child and have been complimented on my "strength and resolve", and the truth is that you don't have any choice in the matter. Mary also didn't have any choice about being chosen to bear God's son. What the Almighty's criteria were for choosing her, only He knows.

To put things in perspective, Mark Twain touted that he was a better man than George Washington: "George Washington could not tell a lie. I can, but choose not to."

I think Mary deserves respect and honor for having been chosen, but nowhere did Jesus say to worship his mother instead of Himself, and how the Catholic Church got off on that sidetrack, I'll never understand, nor will I ever understand how the preachings of a humble carpenter's son could be turned into the most elaborate, complex, ornate religion on earth. Personally, I feel Jesus would be mortified.

Mary was a special girl, you get no argument from me about that. God chose her as a vessel of honor.

Mary was holy in the sense that she was chosen as a vessel of honor, nothing more. Was she was created by her son? Not as her son, but she was created by the Word that became the incarnation. She looked to Jesus blood to save her from her sinful nature which she possessed as a daughter of Eve.

It is as ineffectual to pray to Mary as it would be to pray to Adolf Hitler. Neither can do you any good. Your prayers should be reserved for God alone.

Maybe that sounds a bit harsh. I am sorry, that is what I feel sometimes when I hear the phrase, "mother of God". God has no mother; God IS a mother. God is compassionate beyond what a mother feels for her children.

Yes, I agree that Mary had "a certain level of purity" since she was chosen from all the virgins on the Judean hillsides.

God Bless!

Mary's sinlessness is a creation of Christianity. who is always making up stories to serve their purpose. No records of her early life were ever recorded. We know for a fact that her assumption into heaven originally was nothing more than a story. About the year ,600 Pope Alexander decreed that it was officially religious fact and everyone was required to believe it. Imagine that, a story becomes religious fact because a Pope said so. I believe that Christianity has been caught in too many created falsehoods that people are required to believe.

Mary could not have been sinless and perfect since we know only Jesus has ever been that way. I would say that she was faithful and blessed by God to receive the privilege of being the mother of Jesus. She should be respected but not worshiped.

May God Bless you.

Ok - for one thing, she was probably about 16 when she was married to Joseph. People of that time were nothing like the popular depictions of Mary - they were much shorter and darker-skinned as a result of their being outdoors much of the time and because that's the general complexion of people living in that area. Yet, she's always depicted - even by those who have supposedly "seen" and been visited by her - as a statuesque, good looking woman who doesn't remotely resemble people from that area. Would you care to explain that?

Now, I do agree with you that it would take a person of exceptional strength and courage to see their son crucified - but her "holiness?" She was just a Jewish woman living in the Middle East - nothing more, nothing less.

Oh my goodness! She replaced into no longer sinless! each and every guy or woman who has been born of guy and female ( meaning from guy's sperm) has been born into sin. they have a sinful nature. Jesus replaced into born of the Holy Spirit, and definite got here from the womb of Mary yet she replaced right into a virgin and conceived by using the Holy Spirit,- he's GOD! (John a million:a million) Mary isn't God, and she or he replaced right into a classic individual like the rest human beings. The Catholic church, in the event that they do coach this is coaching fake doctrine- i understand they carry her extreme and pray to her it relatively is likewise incorrect using fact the Bible says Jesus is the single mediator between God and guy. Jesus is the only sinless one, our purely Savior. compliment be to Him!

Your question is, in my opinion, the specific reason that the Roman Catholic Church came up with the theology surrounding the "Immaculate Conception" - Mary being born without the stain of original sin. If Jesus was God as well as human, what sense would it have made for God to be phycially conceived in a manner that included original sin? God can't be God if stained by Sin, right?

Anyway, all this being said, I have no problems with Mary being born without original sin. Sure Mary probably sinned just the way the rest of us do - little things that human weakness causes. She is special, but she is still "only" human - a model of obedience to God, but nowhere near divine herself.

There is no need to dwell on what Mary was used for. Give honor where honor is due but Mary cant give you salvation praying to her does not get you close to the son. Jesus is the name we call for salvation He intercedes for us to the Father. Mary was use to bring Jesus into this world she should never be put up on a pedestal like God, prayed to worshiped and glorified
