It is legal to have opened containers of alcohol in the trunk of your car, if the trunk is not accessible from the cabin- If it is a hatchback that you can reach into, I wouldn't recommend it. Empty containers in the trunk are also legal.

No its not illegal in the trunk.... The law pretty much states its illegal in the driver/passenger compartment area.
