Most states do not require a license to bartend, but some may. You do obviously have to be 21. Most places hire from within, therefore I suggest you start out as a server and let them know that you'd eventually like to bartend. Yes, most places you make a lot of good tips, just keep in mind this is pretty much all you make. You get paid $2.13 an hour and this is all getting taken out in taxes. Good tips are at least 20% of the sale. Bartending school might be good to help you learn all the drinks, but it's not going to help you get a job. Don't purchase any attire until you know where you are going to work and what attire they require.

There is no reason to go to a bartending school. You will learn their ways and get a job somewhere and have to learn everthing all over again. Drinks are different from bar to bar and town to town. Sign on as a barback somewhere and just learn the ropes that way. The license depends on the county\city the bar is in. Bartenders can make a lot of money but tend to always be broke. It's very up and down. Just because you made $300 in one night and the same thing over and over don't take it for granted. It can hit the wall and you might start having $32 nights or worse. Budget yourself.

Check and see what the local laws are if you need a license or not, I'm not sure. Sometimes bartending schools can be good because when you are finished with your training, they help place you. If you can get in to one of those college bars, you could start out serving and make your position clear that you aspire to bartend there once you get some experience. Sometimes places will only want to hire you with experience, or they hire their bartenders within.

i began out via being a waitress. whilst the bartender became away or busy, i could could desire to fetch beer and make beverages. Then i finished up starting to be a bartender who at times waitressed whilst necessary. Small autonomous kinfolk eating places supply you a destroy like that. even even with the undeniable fact that a chum of mine utilized at Applebees to be a bartender without adventure. She had to memorize over 1000 recipes, then have an instantaneous try. that they had randomly throw her drink orders and she or he'd could desire to cause them to. She surpassed and have been given employed!

Most placed dont care if you went to school or night since you are in a college town you proably wont have to make to many martinis but you should ask a bartendar if you can shadow them at work just so you can see the diffrent types of glasses that you use for diffrent drinks. Be attentive to your Customers and engaging check to see if they need reflils or sugestions. Trust me I have 3 friends who are bartendars the nicer you are the more money you make

I went to bartending school and I'm glad I did, but I don't recomend anyone else do it. I'm glad I did because it gave me blind faith that I could find a job, and I did. The best thing they teach you is how to free pour, but you can practice that at home.
