Do I really believe in the doctrines of my religion? Of course, I wouldn't be LDS if I didn't.

Is Wikipedia the best resource for what our doctrines are? Probably not.

It's best to try www.lds.org, or just go to your local library and check out a Bible and Book of Mormon.

Thanks

It seems that many non-mormons seems really understand what we believe, and so eager to answer the question for us.
I thank then for their help, but I am sure we can manage this simple question.

Well, from what was stated in that Website, especially the 13 article of faith, Yes, we do believe such doctrine, and I never regret it for over 34 years, and will still be a LDS till I died.

Yes!

Also that every child they give birth to, is a former spirit baby. If you ever get the opportunity to tour a newly built Temple - before it is dedicated to the Mormon people .....

By all means GO on the tour, it is gorgeous - No celebs house anywhere comes close to the amount of money, that goes into everything in those buildings!!

Yes some people really believe in that... and to be fair it's no more ridiculous than christianity or islam. Most religions tend to have equal doses of absurdity - which is why I don't really follow them.

The real question though is how anyone can believe in scientology, particularly when it was created on a bet Hubbard made with a colleague in 1954... He bet he could create his own religion and did so, this is history but scientologists still believe the absurd stories.

This is a quote from Lee Strobel's The Case for Christ. It comes from an interview with John McRay, PH.D.

Although Joseph Smith claims his book of Mormon is "the most correct book of any book upon the earth" archaeology has repeatedly failed to substantiate its claims about events that supposedly occurred long ago in the Americas.

As authors John Ankerberg and John Weldon concluded in a book on the topic, "In other words no Book of Mormon cities have ever been located, no Book of Mormon person, place, nation or name has ever been found, no Book of Mormon artifacts, no Book of Mormon scriptures, no Book of Mormon inscriptions...nothing which demonstrates the Book of Mormon is anything other than myth or invention has ever been found."

On the other hand archaeology backs up the Christian Bible all the time. If we dig in Israel and find ancient sites that are consistent with where the Bible said we would find them, that shows the Bible's history and geography are accurate. One prominate archaeologist carefully examined Luke's references to 32 countries, 54 cities, and 9 islands, finding not a single mistake. These are only some sites that have been excavated: The Pool of Bethesda in John 5:1-15, the Pool of Siloam from John 9:7, Jacob's well from John 4:12, even Pontius Pilate's identity has been confirmed by archaeology! John McRay PH. D. was asked if he had ever encountered an archaeological finding that blatantly contravene a New Testament reference he responded, "Archaeology has not produced anything that is unequivocally a contradiction to the Bible. On the contrary, there have been many opinions of skeptical scholars that have become codified into 'fact' over the years but that archaeology has shown to be wrong."

So sense to worry about mormons. For every strange belief there's a thousand more. It's part of human history and human present. Consider: 58% of the ADULT population believes that aliens visit here.

I went to church with them, they visited many times, I was reading the Mormon Book, was about to be baptized, gave them money and nice presents. I told them of some miracles that had happened in my family, they both got up. as they were walking out one told me I must be crazy. that only Priests and higher ups in the Church could work miracles.I called them later, they repeated that I was crazy.
I am so very glad to not have been babtised into that church.
The blessings of the Spirit of God is for Everyone.their a cult.
But if they wish to believe that way then its a free country.and they dont hurt anyone.except that did hurt me,some.I have to admit.
This happened in Jacksonville Florida this year.

Peace ,Pray for Peace and for the protection of our troops.& that they all may come home soon.and May God richly Bless your life .Sir.

A friend of mine has a brother-in-law who is hard-core Mormon. He thinks that Utah used to be mesopatamia and that it got to where it is through tectonic shifts etc.

As I have said before, I love mormons personally. But the belief system seems so out there (to me) that it could be a parody of belief systems in general.

oh... wow how funny that you would ask this question today.
A group of Mormons came to my house today, saying that my neighbor goes to their church, and they wanted to invite me to theirs. (My neighbor is REALLY REALLY wierd.)

I said no thanks, and started to close the door, of course they immediatly threw their feet in the way. They started talking about this guy that talks to God, and that they have only met via TV confrences. To them he's as great as Noah or Moses because he can talk to God. First hint that these people were crazy. Can anyone say CULT LEADER?

So I have heard that mormons are pretty sexist against Women. So I mentioned that. The reply, "Oh no... who told you that? I love my Mother!"

Great reply.... morons... oppss mormons. From that point on they started calling me sister.

Give me a break..... Although I think we all have the right to believe whatever we want... don't come to my house... I'll come to yours.
