That depends on what is causing the sinusitis. If it is bacterial sinusitis, antibiotics are necessary. If it is viral sinusitis, antibiotics won't do any good anyway. Have cultures been taken to determine the cause?

I've had success with accupuncture. My accupuncturist also prescribes herbs for this. It will take longer than an antibiotic but you won't have rebound and get it again and again.

I've found it very helpful to avoid situations where I've noticed it creates sinusitis -- things like housecleaning or painting. In these situations, I wear a face mask.

I got this advice and couldn't bring myself to do it. Take your Water Pik and put it on gentle flow. Then put salt water in the bowl and aim the Pik up your nose. The water drains down your throat and apparently the salt water has cleansing qualities.

50 50 mix of warm water and hydrogen peroxide. It burns like hell and works great. Practice first with warm salt water and work your way up to the mix. I'm in a global deployment team andnever get a chance to aclamate to the local pollen, plus antibiotics would conflict with my flight status so the Docs showed us this trick. It's a bear the first couple of times, stand over a sink while you do this. After the first couple of tries you'll be ok and be amazed at what comes out of there.

I get sinus infections all the time from allergies. I use a saline solution (salt water solution) nasal spray. You can purchase in stores or make your own and use a nasal bulb. Irrigate sinuses several times a day.
