Not responding to chemo?

Question

Mom was diag w/stage 3 ovarian cancer in August. They've had her on Carboplatnim only and her levels were going down (recently ca-125 was '125' for her 4th one). Now they cancelled her chemo today because they say the levels are now at 200 so she is not respdonding to it anymore and they will talk to her about it tomorrow. What options do you think are still available? Is there no hope?

Otherwise she is feeling good and eating, but this was a blow to her...she really wants to get out of the hospital.

She has already had surgery back in August 2006.

yes there is hope, My friend is taking interluekin 2 , her cancer nas reaccured 3 times now she also took radiation when the Chemo didnt work any more it was hard but the doc said this has bought her a couple of more years, I am a stage 3 Right now I am ion remission. Take car and search for treatments. They are out there Try Anderson cancer treatment center in Texas...Maybe they can help Or call the University of Mn or mayo and see what experimental trearments they are offering right now... Check on the web for research by Dr Marie Plante. Or tell your oncologist to check her out. Dr Plante is a researcher as well as a doctor, working specifically on chemo-resistant ovarian cancer. She works in Hotel-Dieu de Québec, Québec, Canada. She is presently treating my best friend, who has ovarian cancer too.

If the cancer hasn't spread to any other organs, they may suggest removing her ovaries or a total hysterectomy. If it has spread to other organs, and with a stage 3 I hate to say it may have, then there is nothing more they can do except make her comfortable.

This is NOT to replace medical advice or treatment, but if I were her, I would replace refined carbohydrates and any junk food with whole grain versions and look at diet and exercise. Some foods such as broccoli are good. Make sure she is eating foods that boost her immune system.

That is only to supplement was she is already doing.

You could have her start on emu oil gel caps. Emu oil kills cancer cells and is not harmful to human health. You should consult your doctor before trying anything new. good luck

IF SHE WANTS OUT OF THE HOSPITAL, TAKE HER HOME. THERE ARE ALL KINDS OF OPTIONS INCLUDING HOSPICE COMING INTO THE HOME..........HOSPICE IS NOT JUST FOR PEOPLE AT DEATH'S DOOR YOU KNOW, THEY OFFER MANY SERVICES. GOOD LUCK.

Novellos Therapeutics, I think, is accepting a couple patients with Ovarian Cancer.
Call them and ask if your mother can be enrolled.
