I a student, live in tn and made around $10,000 this year. About $1,000 was withheld for fed taxes. I will file file a simple tax form with deductinons of any sort.. i guess EZ. Can anyone give an estimate as to how much I will get as a refund?

If you can be claimed as a dependent, by your parents for example, your tax bill would be about $488. If you are not a dependent, then your tax bill would be around $156. Subtract your taxes from your withholding to calculate your refund.

This answer assumes you were working on a W-2. If you were an independent contractor, then you'd also owe self-employment taxes.
