Theology is the established and recorded beliefs of a particular religion. The church rules as it were. A preacher is someone who speaks and emphasizes the church's rules. A teacher is someone who is available to open the minds of those willing to seek and learn.

There's a couple differences and many similarities. A preacher gives the message and the teacher expands on it. One can be a preacher and teacher at the same time, or one or the other. If I deliver the message "Repent for the Kingdom of God is near" that is preaching, if I then expand on it, then it is teaching.

religion is theology..... but a preacher is not necessarily a teacher.... a preacher of The True Christian Faith is to be a teacher. but that, unfortunatly, is not always the case. There are those preaching who claim to be of The True Faith who are not...... And a True preacher is always a student of The Word

A preacher has an agenda - i.e. conversion or following of his particular faith, from a follower's point of view.

A teacher has an agenda as well - to educate his students from a non-biased, scholarly point of view.

Theology teachers are also well versed on more than one faith and don't teach a particular religion as "the way".

A preacher (pastor/minister/priest) leads worship including a sermon which may be intended to teach, inspire, motivate, or reprove. A teacher may also seek to inspire, motivate, etc, but primarily seeks to teach.

Generally, preaching involves more inspiration and motivation. Teaching is more detailed, more digging into the text of the religion, and less "practical".
