well, i will stay mostly on the area were people speak french... & about manners, im trying to say like how to greet them or what are some signs they are using (ex: in japan, they always make a bow when they greet or after finish talking, in some asian countries it's not good to laugh with wide mouth open that you have to cover it with hanky, in some european country they need to do hugging when seeing some acquaintance in streets)... i just want to know what are things i need to do, i have to be cautious, of course in a foreign land!

The Swiss are rural folks by nature.
Yes, it is hard to beleive for many outsiders, but this is true - they're villagers at heart.
That is why they might look arrogant and stiff for a superficial look, but this is often a mask of their insecurity and cautiousness toward others.

If you come from a village yourself you shouldn't have any problems with the Swiss. Juts be open, greet people nicely and remember: they need time to get to know you.

Be patient - as soon as the first ice is broken, most of them will become very friendly with you. The rest (who will not) is just a handful of self-centered morons and is not worth of thinking of.

Enjoy your stay!

When I visited there, I found them nicely polite people. I should say that your manners should ALWAYS be polite, not just around the Swiss (or others you are visiting) but all the time. It tends to get you more polite treatment in return, I've found.

Have a good trip (and good for you for trying to learn the language -- but they DO speak more than one, although many do speak English as well.)

Switzerland is divided into three different parts - French speaking part, Italian speaking part and German speaking part. When you asked about swiss guys, it is very general because they are different. And those from cities and villages differ too. But if would like to have a very general answer, I think I should say that most of them are quite conservative as well as kind of arrogant too; especially in the german speaking part. But naturally there are some who are very kind and friendly to foreigners too.
