You have a tel, video, dvd, etc all plugged into sockets, and then try to remove the video, all the cable are twisted. WHY?

Because they are curled up and bundled when you buy them, who knows how long they have been sitting in that plastic bag like that. You lay them on top of each other and they start to bend back the way they were, causing them to get all tangled up.

Use zip ties to group the cables together and it won't happen.

Tangled cables are a common problem. At NASA these are called 'snakes' and were a considerable problem on-board the Shuttle - that is until they discovered cable ties. You can buy cable ties at your nearest hardware DIY store. You can also buy a plastic product which coils around bunches of cables to keep them neat and tidy.

Why do cables become twisted? One answer may be that the temperature in the room where the cables are located may be going up and down throughout the day. Thus the cables are expanding and contracting. This may cause the cables to become twisted. In addition to this, there is the problem of modern cable having a plastic outer skin which is usually of the cheap not very good quality kind. Old fashioned cables were always covered in a quality 'rubber' outer skin which did not shrink and expend nearly so much.

In a large computer room where the temperature is maintained at a constant with air conditioning, the problem you have identified simply never happens. The main problem there is fire - the risk thereof.

Please ensure you are using a proper multi-plug socket for all of the things you've got plugged in. If you put too much on a single plug it can cause fire.

Ah!! The spaghetti monster strikes again!
I recently moved my PC into another room, got it set up, plugged everything in, cables all untangled, went to bed and in the morning what a mess! I think it has got something to do with electrical current giving off some kind of static which attracts the cables to one another, I wouldn't like to try and prove it though!

probably because you attached them that way!!

With just a few cables, its relatively easy to keep them untangled! however when you add more and more cables, its gets harder and harder to keep them untangled and get them from point a to point b. as they don't all start and end in roughly the same place you have to twist them round each other to get to where you need them to be, and as you add more wires you have to wrap them round even more!!!

If you want to remove this problem for future encounters, try using cable ties for each set of 2-4 cables for each appliance, that way they stay separate and untangled, or at least not quite as tangled if they were left loose. I suggest getting ties that can be undone and redone otherwise you'd hae to replace them everytime you wanted to add or remove cables!!

Hope this helps!!

That´s because you did´t put little label´s on them , try putting different coloured tape around each of the cable´s TV , ORANGE, VIDEO BLUE, and so on. Then instead of having them all over the place tie all the cables together and hook them up be hide the appliance

The electricity that passes inside the firbre insulation warms the metal and softens the insulation ..... so the insulation looses shapes and gets tangled.
