They will hurt worse if your not prepared for it. Knowing what to expect is the best thing you can do in getting ready for them. So I'm going to send you this info a little early so you can be getting prepared for them. Read over it several times or print it out so you won't forget some of the tips. Good luck!
Congrats on your new braces! You are on a mission to obtaining a better smile not to mention having your teeth in perfect alignment! As for the pain, it's not uncommon for there to be a little pain because you have bands put on pushing teeth apart and strange wires and brackets all over the place. Your mouth is probably feeling pretty full right now. Do yourself a favor....don't push or rub on your lips, pushing against the brackets on your teeth can cause mouth ulcers and can be very painful. Use the wax the dentist gave you and eat soft foods today and tomorrow. Lots of ice cream, cold drinks or Popsicles! If your dentist prescribed Advil or Motrin for pain be sure to take it. Even today your teeth are on the move, but trust me, it does get easier and less painful after a few days. Every month you will be going back to see your dentist for adjustments. Sometimes it's a little uncomfortable for a day or so, but keep in mind how great your smile will be when it's all over! It will all be worth it in the long run. Some of my favorite patients are in ortho and it's always great to see their reactions when they finally get them off. It's usually one of hugs, kisses and Lots of looks in the mirror at their fantastic smile! Good luck! Let me know if I can help with anything else!

And bush you teeth 3 - 4 times a day . And when you go back for a check up the take out the bar and sometimes it hurts . But the first time it hurts ever one . And the pain last's for around 3 days. It depends on how modern your orthodontist is, mine is very modern that cost alittle more, but getting my braces on took 13 minutes, because all he did was hold a mold of my mouth with the brakets on my mouth for five minutes, and put the wire and ties on. For most people though, the orthodontist puts each braket on one by one. I think the top of your mouth hurts longer than the bottem. The top hurts for four days, and the bottem for two to three. But to imagine what it feels like, put your hands up to your teeth and push lightly. This is what it will feel like for a few days until you get used to it. But no, it doesn'e hurt that much. I was really scared too, but you'll be fine hun!

they don't hurt. when i was younger braces used to be the thing.like classes you didn't like them but everyone had them...but yea braces don't hurt the first week or actually first 3-4 days your teeth hurt and you really can't chew bread you can pretty much eat mushy stuff or soup. but it gets better for me it didn't hurt when he would tighten it isn't that bad, and my advice is don't get the clear color for your teeth because since its hard to floss it will make your teeth look yellow. so stick to a simple color. that looks cute with your face.

Its a little bit uncomfortable whenever you are in the procces of getting them on cause they put this big red thing in your mouth but after you get them on say 2 hours your teeth will kill you, or at leasts thats what heppened to mine. If your teeth are really crooked it will hurt worse than someone whos teeth arent as crooked. But a tip is try taking a pain reliever before you go to get them on and it will relieve the pain a BUNCH! and you will probably have to take a fe more in the next few days after you get them. But they arent so bad

When you first have them put on, your teeth will be sore for a bit. Also, where your lips rub against them will be sore and possibly raw, nothing extreme, however. You can but wax to put on the sharp places, and some numbing mouth cream. Also, whenever you get them tightened , they will be sensitive again.

Yes they do hurt. They will make your teeth very sore for a few days and most likely sensitive for a week. But after a couple you won't even notice you have them anymore until they adjust them...then they will be sore again for a day. Overall its really not that bad...just the first couple nights.

They hurt a little when your at the ortha but it doesn't hurt too much. The truth is that they are braking your jaw so of course its gonna hurt a little but just think about that lovely smile you'll have after!

They're more uncomfortable than painful. I think the new kind are much better than the awful metal ones I had in the 80's! If they do hurt, tell your othodontist and they can be adjusted.

They will for the first few days - and then for a few days after each adjustment. It's not so bad and well worth it to have straight teeth!
