Has anyone ever read the Satanic Bible? It has more Christ like attitudes than the Christian Bible, Ironic?

1: Do Not Give an opinio unless asked.
2: Do Not Tell your problems to others unless asked
3: When in someone else's home show him respect or do not go there.
4: Do Not make sexual advances unless you are in a situation in which is is appropriate and welcomed.
5: Do Not take that which does not belong to you.
6: Do Not complain about anything that you should not have exposed yourself to.
7: Do Not harm little Children
8: Do Not Kill animals except for food unless you are attacked

The church is also opposed to stupidity, pretentiousness. They believe in do unto others as they do unto you. They oppose mob mentality

I am not a Satanist, but a student of religions. Bu no they actually do not believe in a being called Satan

Yes, I have read the Satanic Bible, plus the other books listed below.

Anton LaVey wrote those ideas about haring animlas or children because he knew he would attract "nuts". He didn't even follow them himself, BTW http://usminc.org/satanism.html

Satanists would tell you it's the "worship of the self". Most people who identify themselves as Satanists are the "LaVeyian" variety. Anton LaVey was a liar, fraud, bankrupt wife beating pimp. BTW, one idiot actually had the nerve to say "Everyone beat their wife in the fifties" when informed of this(even though he beat Diane from the 60's into the 80's). And no, not everyone did, and it was still wrong.

This shows that rather than standing on their own two feet, Satanists slavishly make excuses for their cult figure, not unlike they way Scientologists do fo L. Ron Hubbard (so much for not following the herd).

LaVey was approached by Avon books to wrote a book on witchcraft to cash in on the occult craze of the 1960's. He cobbled together "The Satanic Bible" from a forgotten right-wing political tract (Where of the material from the Book of Satan comes from), Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged, and the superstitous occult material of John Dee.

LaVey never really seemed to know what Satanism was himself. Some of his writings seemed atheistic, at other times he called Satan "the dark side of nature" and often refers to Satan as a personification.

Eventually, people realized the spells didn't work, and so began the whole "Well, it's really a philosophy" excuse. In the 1980's, when LaVey was living in poverty he then claimed he was shunning consumer materialism ( a complete role reversal from "Indulgence instead of abstinence!") ala Pee Wee Herman's "I meant to do that!" But the Satanic Bible gives details for 3 spells, for revenge, sex, and getting Satan's compassion (!) It is quite specific about timing of rituals, instruments to be used, clothing, etc. It seems from this, LaVey was implying results could be achieved through magic. There is a chapter in the Satanic Bible called "On The Choice of Human Sacrifice" which Satanists claim means a victim is to be killed by a curse, not by actually murdering them. But therein lies a problem for the Satanists who don't believe in magic, because then how can they kill their victims with a curse? (Illogical, if not stupid)

LaVey claimed that nuts were given "the bum's rush" when trying to join the Church of Satan, but clearly nut was in the eye of the beholder. LaVey has admited to holding a "Cannibal feast" of a human leg in at least 3 books. The Satanic Bible & Satanic Rituals certainly describe many things most normal people would consider pychotic such as Nude girl is used as an altar (Satanic Bible, Satanic Rituals)A human skull is used in Die Elektrischen Vorspiele ritual (Satanic Rituals, p. 109)Human leg bone or arm bone is used in Homage to Tchort ritual (p.137)
Woman dressed as nun urinates before group into a bedpan in the Black Mass ritual (p.43) Urine is then sprinkled like holy water (p.44)Man climbs into coffin with nude woman (or nude man if he is gay) in Le Epais ritual (p.59).

As a "philosophy", Satanism could be boiled down to hedonism, which was hardly a new idea in the 1960's. Oddly enough, most Satanists don't fit the bill as swingers. Some seem to lead fairly uneventful lives. Here's an example:

Wow! What a swinger! So then the picture begins to develop that Satanism is not so much a philosophy of life as it is a fantasy; a means to escape a life not worth living. Most people find others calling themselves, "Lord Egan" or "Ipissisimus" or thinking they have some kind of magic powers pretentious to say the least.

Umm no. Would you ever eat a lethal dose of arsenic even if you knew someone had the antidote and they were standing right there to inject you with it? Listen, a book by itself can not corrupt my soul. Neither can listening to atheist or satanistic ideas. But as a Christian, I am called to keep myself pure and holy. Somehow, I don't think reading such a text qualifies for those criteria. Same reason I don't watch porn, or drink alcohol. Oh yeah, and what was it that Satan said to Eve? Genesis 3:1-4 " 1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, "Did God really say, 'You must not eat from any tree in the garden'?" 2 The woman said to the serpent, "We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, 3 but God did say, 'You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.' " 4 "You will not surely die," the serpent said to the woman. 5 "For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil." And guess what...Eve did die...spiritually and physically. So the answer is NO. I would not.

Well all those things are Biblical attributes too, except maybe #4 but I can find scriptures for all the other ones too. So you cant say it has more Christ-like attributes than the Bible, because it has all of them and then some.

What it simply is, is the author (since it wasnt satan) found these to be the most acceptable of Christianity and added in the sex thing for his own pleasure.

Satan was simply one of Jehovah's angels. Angels in the Old Testament do not have free will. They do as they are commanded. The texts of the Old Testament never show Satan going against Jehovah's will. Satan means adversary or accuser. According to the Old Testament text Satan is not an adversary to Jehovah, he is an adversary to man, and man's accuser.

Heh, I think the true irony is that they (or most of them) really don't believe in Satan. They just use it as a symbol of anarchy and counter-culture.

This is why all the "Satanic ritual" scares of the last few decades make me laugh.
