if you are not attached to the mirror remove it and replace it
with one that you prefer and if you are attached maybe you
could use it in another room.
because of the size and you mentioned framing it was not an
option maybe you should concentrate on putting decorative
pieces on the mantle itself, some really tall candle holders
in different heights would really look spectacular against a
huge mirror or colorful topiary on each end.

Is there space above the mirror to mount a decorative hook or medallion ? From that you can hang another piece of art (smaller than the mirror) in front of the mirror. I would pick something that went with the style of the mirror.
If the mirror is square or rectangular what about a round/oval frame for the artwork? If not artwork, then maybe a decorative wreath that goes along with the decor of the room.
Hope this helps!

You could measure it and make your own frame. We had an apartment that had a mirror stuck to the bedroom wall. We just build one ourselves. You can get nice decorative molding at a lumber yard. Borrow a miter box & saw. Paint or stain the wood, and nail it in place.

You can easily make a frame using decorative crown molding sold at a store like Home Depot or Lowes. Or you can do some etching of your own by picking up a kit at your area craft store, it's really quite easy.

There are faked vines with flowers of all kinds which you can purchase, I prefer roses, on the vines which can be put around pictures of mirrors and look very pretty. Also, beautiful fabric like satin, silk or even delicate lace could be formed around the mirror for a fresh new look. Gold would look very good draped around it or colors that match your room.

With the measurements on hand, go to your local antique/vintage shops and look for frames that would fit. You can change the frames to anything you like by painting, staining, or buffing the paint for an antiqued look.

Bring it to a local frame store or Michaels Crafts and have them put the mirror in a frame.
