Wine will start to change its flavor as soon as it is exposed to the oxygen in the air. To a point this is favorable, hence the need for some wines to breathe before you drink. After a while, the wine will go past the optimum point of taste and will degrade thereafter. Some people have more sensitive palettes and will sense the change and will not be able to consume a wine that was opened the day before. Many will still find a bottle quite enjoyable a couple of days later. To extend the life of your wine you should cork the bottle as soon as possible. Also if you can cork into a half bottle it will minimize the exposure of the wine to the air in the bottle.

It depends on the temperature that the wine is kept, and if you use a wine-preserver (which extracts almost all of the air inside the bottle). Let us say that if you use this preserver, and store the wine inside the fridge, wine will be good for 2 or 3 days. Not using preserver and storing wine at room temp, may lead you to have vinegar instead of wine the very next day. Greetings.

It depends on the varital of wine. Most red wine's can be kept at cellar temp (appx 58 degrees) for a few days. You should definitely close it up, either with the original cork, a stopper or a wine sealer. It will help. As for whites, they start to change almost instantly. Even if your re-seal and refrigerate a bottle of white wine, it will taste different after several hours. Not necessarily bad, just different. I have a neat thing that comes with a rubber stopper and it removes air from the bottle of wine. It definitely helps keep them fresher. Hope this helps.

Really depends on the wine. Reds will last about a day if you keep them at room temp, a couple days if you leave them in the refrigerator. For reds, take the wine out of refrigerator a couple hours before you drink it. Whites will last a couple days refrigerated. Ports and sweet wines will last a week to months depending on the quality and/or type. You can also buy gases or vacuums that claim to add time you can keep wine but I don't think the cost is worth an extra day or so.

Well, how long did it take you to get drunk? It wasn't any good after that was it?

Sorry, just had to.

Now, seriously, it depends on the wine. Most start to seriously lose their flavor & boquet after more than a few hours & IMO taste "flat" after 1 day. If the wine is in the bottle still & it can be resealed, the flavor will last longer. I personally don't drink wine after the bottle has been opened for 3 days.

I have had some that was a week old. As long you can recork with a tight seal, you should be ok for a week.
