It all depends on what you want to do with it. If your primary motivation is price, and you just do web surfing and email, then a version of linux will work well for you.
But if you're used to working with Microsoft applications like Word and Excel, you will have to use Windows. Also very few games are written for linux.
I haven't used Linux XP but imagine it's just another distribution of linux with a different user interface. I suggest trying Ubuntu linux instead - it's currently the most popular version of linux for desktops.
I have included a link to a review of Linux XP in relation to Windows XP and Ubuntu.

I don't believe Linux does has a product called XP. What you are probably wanting to compare is the Linux OS to Windows XP.
Linux is free and works well, but can be more difficult to install then Windows. It also has far fewer available aplications and very very few games (all about the Minesweeper level of games).
If you want to try Linux, and you have a computer with two hard drives, or two partitions on your one drive, you can install Linux on the second partition and try it out. It will give you a choice at bootup whether you want to run Windows or Lunix. That way you can try it out without having to give up WIndows.

Dude, I never heard of "Linux XP".
But here's a fact for you: Some linux distributions are already better than Windows Vista will ever be. Usability & Security wise. And that's a fact, Jack.
For a comparison you can check out this site: . Although you have to take into account that is a Novell site hence it will tend to favour SuSE Linux a bit.
