War is generally not popular. Ignorant people tend to let their feelings about an unpopular war be reflected in the way they talk/feel about the troops. This is very NOT right, but they seem to think that they are standing up for their feelings against the war. Of course, it is NOT the fault of any of our troops (all troops). Pretty much like Viet Nam. When our American troops came back, they were spit on. What did they do except be a pawn in an unpopular war? They (and all of our troops) are the reason why we are able to enjoy the many, many freedoms we still have today. It isn't the troops that are responsible for being over there. It is their job; duties are dictated by their 'bosses'. Yes, we should be proud of all of them. They are the reason why I can walk to my neighborhood store without bombs blasting all around me. Thank you to our troops.

I agree. The Canadians have been used and abused for years. The Canadians should be proud of their history. As I recall their is a street in a Canadian city where Three VC winners lived. If that is not enough proof then there never will be.

I think the majority of Canadians DO support the troops, and are very proud of their military. They are kicking a** in Afghanistan.

You can't pay attention to the mainstream media and polls, and the Internet is also not a good place to Gage by.

THE people, for the most part, "get it."

I think that's sad- maybe there isn't enough education in Canadian schools about the sacrifices made by the men and women of their military? I can tell you that people in America with knowledge of military issues respect the Canadian military. It must be tough to do a good job in the Canadian military knowing that you don't have the general support of the people you're working to protect.

Anybody whom steps up to the plate and puts his life on the line deserves respect. I have sailed with the Canadian Sailors and I'm proud to have been apart of the Joint operation we took part of.

It's not that Canadians didn't fight bravely it's just the overall effect they had. I think any man that fights for his country deserves respect. Even the Nazis were just men who had had to follow orders. But America has such a powerful army that the Canadians pale in comparison.

Not that I'm defending the huge amount of ignorant people that make stupid comments but The U.S. has deployed at least 50 times the amount of troops that canada has. So that's probably why people aren't paying as much respect to Canada

I'm a veteran of the Canadian Forces, and I found only one hot head from Alberta that put me down. But since I respect myself, I don't feel the need for the approbation of others.

But I do agree that it is past time that Canadians returned to their peacekeeping role, instead of as active troops. We used to be viewed as the best neutral nation in the Western Hemisphere.

This isn't an American War....it involves the whole world. When are countries going to step up to the plate instead of hiding behind the U.S. We don't want to appear the ring leader of this world circus.....but whose going too!! Canada, France, pick any country. They wait for us ...they make no decisions ,so there's no responsibility for them, they cannot be criticized ,only do the criticizing. The U.S. does not like being peace keeper to all, but we are the only country who has the balls to say not on my watch and then be criticized in the way we give our protection!
