To be fair, quite a few moderate christians on Y!A have, for which I can only say thanks.

I think in general though, it's just like in every other sphere of life. "You know, I'll do it tomorrow..." Most people, and not just christians either, have the same couldn't-be-bothered attitude about everything from recycling to doing the mail, so why should standing up against the bullies that give them a bad rep be any different?

I agree with Rabbitacu.. but would like to add that it is also because they do not know what they are on about and half the time it's not worth time or energy. Have you ever had an intellectual argument with someone and they reach a point where they can not answer coherently without seeming silly (in other words they loose control of the argument due to a limited knowledge of the subject in discussion)? Most people get personal (sometimes physical) or rant and rave about all sorts of irrelevant things mainly accusing you of accusing them of all sorts. Is it really worth your while to pursue the issue?

Many of us do... we are the ones trying to give people a clearer version of what our religions truly preach and then show the different ways it gets turned into practice, sometimes for good, sometimes not.

A large part of this has to do with the media. Basically we are just not news worthy. It's the squeaky wheel thing.
