My son burnt his hand on an Iron, and we went to the doctors the same day. They wrapped his hand put some type of sock over the bandage to keep him from toying with it. Now that the blister popped, what should I do? Should I cut the skin or ??? the Doc said we should cut the skin, but I remember being burnt and I just left it alone and was fine.

Once the blister broke, it opened a path for infection which can grow under that flap of skin. I'd do as the doctor said and trim away the dead tissue, put antibiotic ointment like Bacitracin on it and keep it covered to prevent infection.

NO no no!!!! Leave the blister alone. It will eventually "leak" its self. The blister is making a natural bandage to keep out bacteria and stuff. The only thing you can do is of course run gentle cold water on it and then keep it dry. However if you are close to a McD's you can get some of their pickles and put it on the burn. It really works to relieve the pain. I had a tremendous burn from working there and put pickles on it and oh what a relief. No scar either. But only do it on the first day and not on an open burn only on the blister.

Children pick. I had a child burnt badly by pouring coffee on herself. She was three. We dressed it daily with neosporin and bandaged it daily with gauze and put a sock over it until it showed signs of healing really good. Then, after all scabs had begun to disappear, it was only bandaged at night. Air and sun can do wonders, but not for little ones. If something itches, they scratch. If something needs picking, they pick at it.

Ooh, leave the skin til its dried. Have you ever pulled the skin off one? It burns like heck lol Especially for a 16 month old who wants to touch everything :) I say leave it until it dries and the skin underneath isn't so sensitive

leave it alone. the skin acts as a natural barier against infections. the reason the blister is there is because it is drawing out all of the bad infection in the burn area as well as healing it.

OMG! Leave it alone! That will hurt the little guy! I'd still keep it covered so he can't do that himself.
