Most cat litters have some kind of odor control and it will tell you so on the litter bag...but...you have to keep up with the changing of the litter in the box on a regular basis otherwise it doesn't matter what kind of litter you buy because it will eventually stink to high heaven.
Good Luck

Cats are normally very clean and fastidious animals in their toiletry habits. How-ever, there is always one who does not follow the norm. I have an 8yr old desexed female who has suddenly started doing the same thing, but then I do have 5 other cats as well. I am teaching her all over again to actually go into the box to do her poops rather than just beside it. It takes a lot of time and patience. Know when she normally goes for a poop, after eating is one, and follow her. When she starts to perform pick her up and put her in the box and stay there 'til she does her job. Another trick is to get a little stick and scratch in the litter to imitate the cat's normal behaviour. You say you keep the litter clean so that is not the cause. Do you have other cats? Competition for the tray and the different scents left behind can cause problems. My cat is getting the message and is responding well to my being behind her all the time. Do not keep moving the box as it confuses the cat, she likes familiarity. As I said, time, patience and training.

I keep an indoor cat so good litter is essential for me.

I use a litter called (appropriately!) "Worlds Best Cat Litter".

It is brilliant. It is completely natural and organic so less chemicals for kitty. It clumps when wet so it can be easily scooped out of the tray and (the best bit!) FLUSHED DOWN THE LOO!
You don't need to change the entire contents of the tray - just scoop out the used bits and top it up.
And it is excellent at odour control.
Take a look at the site (link is below).
It is pricey stuff, but it is worth it because it is so convenient and lasts for ages.
You can get it at most good petshops - Pets at Home definitely stock it.
Hope it works for you!

i use Fresh step.... awesome product..( clumping cat litter is the the best) another good tip,,,Even if you use the best brand , it still will not control all of the odor.. Cat urine is strong and what i do is buy Carbon ( ya know like the kind used in fish tanks) and I mix it with the litter.. What it will do is absorb some of the odor and it does cut down on smell,, Hope this could help..

Fresh Step Small Spaces or Fresh Step Crystals Blend are too great litters designed for odor control. They control odor on contact.

I've found that clumping litter controls odor best. The crystal type is supposed to be the best but I've never tried it because its expensive. Any clumping kind that says immediate odor control is even better. I use Tidy cat for small spaces.

Arm and Hammer is awesome at that. There is an Arm and Hammer flushable litter you can try as well since the litter box is in the bathroom. Or why not just toilet train your cat?

I use cat litter that is made from Silica. It is wonderful. Theres no cloud of dust or nasty smell. I think Tidy Cats makes it. There is also a generic version at WalMart. Its a little more expensive, but it lasts 30 days for 1 cat. Good luck :o)

I use a pine litter that you can buy at Wal-Mart. I'm not sure of the brand name, but it is in a purple bag. It is flushable. We keep ours in the bathroom too, and with this litter, there is no smell. To me, even the clean litter has a strange perfumed smell, but the pine litter just smells fresh!
