I KNOW if I don't do it, I won't be able to live with myself. There are people who will think less of me if I DO this thing.
Where can I go in the Bible for guidance? And, how do I know for sure if I am doing the right thing?
This is a serious question, PLEASE only answer seriously, and may God bless YOU for helping me.

I would need more info to answer the question. Is it something you think is wrong, or others might think is wrong, or is it such an act of charity/compassion that it requires much of you. In my opinion, this scripture offers the best guidance for choosing your actions: You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, all your strength and all your might; and your neighbor as yourself.

God gave you free will. Free will to chose what you want to believe in, what you want to do in life, how you want to treat others. Free will comes with great responsibility. More responsibility than just being a passenger in your life, thinking that God will tell you what to do.

Ask yourself, if your "intentions" are honorable towards your friend. If you are just doing this favor to be honorable, that does not mean it is the right thing to do.

If your friend is in trouble, because of something he did, then sometimes the best lesson you can teach them is to let them suffer from their own actions. God gave us that help, he lets us live with our decisions, he never strikes anyone down with a bolt of lightning, or takes their life for things they have done, he deals with them after they die.

If you bail out your friend over and over, your friend will come to expect you too do it each time and will never learn to stay out of trouble.

Ask yourself this question: Am I the only person who is willing to help this friend? If you answer yes then why is that? Are you the only good person in their life? I doubt it.

Sometimes you just have to let someone learn the hard way. If their life is in danger, then call the police, you are NOT capable of helping someone who's life hangs in the balance of a decision you have to make.

If you are simply going to have to make a sacrifice, like, you give them money and that means you won't eat well this week or month, and they will use the money to eat, or feed their kids, then you are sacrificing for the good of others, even tho people might not think that the person deserves your money.

If you feel like you are this persons last resort, then chances are they will faulter again next week, next month and you will be responsible for them, again, and again...

Think of Jesus who gave the a man a fishing pole instead of fish, sure, the man was hungry and wanted food, but in the end, a long term solution was to give him a fishing pole. It meant the man had to get up early and go to work, maybe the man just wanted a handout, some people might have told Jesus, "hey, you didn't give him the food he wanted!" and others might have seen Jesus do the right thing for the man, and not for Jesus.

Never mind what other people think. Listen to the deepest part of yourself. When you think about doing this do you feel a deep peace or does that part of you cry out NO? Is it a Loving thing to do? Is it something that Jesus would do in the same situation? Ask God to help you discern which inner voice you should listen to. Why will you not be able to live with yourself if you don't?

If you come to think about it G-d asked Moses to lead his people out of Egypt (With G-d's divine intervention, of course). There were like around 600,000 in all. You should thank G-d for giving you a task for that single person (Make sure that something is based on love, or else, just ignore it) . Well, no else can be Moses and no one else can be you. We just have to do our own task and be happy about it. You should also know that G-d will provide you all the tools you need for the task H- gives.

You know you are not here in this world to do the will of your neighbor, but to love your neighbor in the will of God. For this you cannot seek the approval of man, but the approval of God our Father.

It is good that you seek God's Word for direction. I trust that you will also petition Him in prayer. May you find the direction you seek and may it be in accordance with God's will. If this leads to your persecution or struggle, you know your peace is in eternity.

See source section for some references. 1 Corinthians 7 is in the context of marriage, but it does illustrate the struggle you mention. I suggest, too, that you enlist the support of your church. Your brothers and sisters are there with you.

I don't think anything God tells you to do will be easy, historically, people who had a message from Him have been thrust into adversity.(Abraham, Job, Jesus)... What does your heart tell you to do? That's a pretty good test of what you should or shouldn't do. Good luck on this!

If you're sure God is telling you to do it, do it, but if it's anything that the Bible condemns as sin, God is NOT telling you to do it. God doesn't ever tell us to sin.

Some people have no convictions, count yourself blessed that you feel something. Go for it, don't over analyze, just do it.

If God is leading you then you have the Victory won. If you have the Lord on your side and he is truly guiding you don't worry about it.
