i've seen some videos of people being beheaded. when someone is being beheaded, do they mostly feel the pain from the wound or the pain of suffocating? or do they die right away?

Decapitation is always fatal, as brain death usually occurs within seconds to minutes without the support of the organism's body.

As far as pain goes...

Look at it this way, if you cut off your arm, leg or even a finger, your brain sends a message to that part of the body to say "somethings wrong!" and the part of your body that the arm, leg or finger was just removed from "hurts".

However, you feel no pain in the arm, leg or finger that has just been removed from you. Being that it has been separated from your brain.

So, if you did feel any pain from beheading, it would be only from your neck up. However, pain is also caused by blood flow to the damaged nerve endings... Your head has just been removed from the part of your body that has the heart in it, so blood flow has stopped to your brain. So the pain would probably be minimal at best and the pain felt would be that of air hitting the open nerve ending at the base of the neck.

The question that has always plagued me is, your brain can survive without blood flow or oxygen for 3 to 5 minutes. If this is so, is your brain working and comprehending what has just happened after a beheading??? Do you see your body when your head hits the floor? Do you still see the people that just did this to you? Can you still hear and see what is going on around you after you've been beheaded for the next few minutes?

That's kind of a creepy thought, huh?

The world may never know. But seriously they die, so we won't know if or how much pain they actually feel. Most likely it is instant death, or they actually die in seconds. Since they can't breath and their spine isn't connected to their brain or head. They might just die. If any pain is felt, its probably a little from the actaully wound. But the pain receptors might get damaged so they may feel nothing.

Unfortunately, I have not been able to ask an experienced person :-P I'm joking!
I don't know. Surely it would be pain and you can't breathe but people do seem to have conscienceness for a little bit. It's a sucky way to go.

No one knows what it feels like, because no one has come back to talk about it. But death is from lack of circulation to the brain. And is very quickly accomplished, like 3 or 4 seconds.

As to what kind of pain, no one has lived to tell. I don't imagine that the pain would last more than a second or two.

Are you planning a murder? Beheading, shooting someone in the head. What's next?

I wouldn't know. Fortunately I've never been beheaded.
But seriously, I think death would be instant.
