Just make sure you don't have any formatting that is only specific to the 2007 version. Or any version in between, also check the encoding on your system and make sure that it is compliant with the standards in 2002 (they weren't updated in 2003 so you have to check the previous year). This should be in C:/WIndows/System32/stan~01012002.oar or some similar file name. Also I'm making the assumption that you're running a 32 bit file system.

You open it the same way. Open Excel 2003, click on file, click on Open, scroll to where the file is located and doubleclick on the file name.
If you used a special feature in Excel 2007 which is not in Excel 2003 the file should still open however, the feature won't be available.
Also, if you save the file in Excel 2003 all Excel 2007 special features which were present in the file before you opened it will be lost.
Hope this helps.

In MSExcel 2007 file save in type .xlsx or in word .docx so when u save as the file there is option in the right select 97-2003 then save. if u want to make this type setting permanent u can do it from
there is word/excel option bottom of file menu in that change the saving type form .docx / .xlsx to doc / xls. now all time when u save it open in other earlier office like 97-2003. Here doc for word and xls for Excel
