I would love to have one of those flashes that wrap around the lens for glamour work instead of my mounted bounce flash. I can't seem to find anything other than for macro work. Any help would be great. Thanks!

You can search for those at B&H Camera. Look for models made by companies such as photogenics. Also, Alien Bees has a new ringflash for portrait/model type photography. If you aren't familiar with Alien Bees, they make strobes for studio lighting and typicially have good pricing.

A great website to find tips and info on lighting is www.studiolighting.net. The guys that run that website also put out a really good podcast on lighting.

A couple of companies have made them on a small scale. They usually design them to be powered by Speedotron, Norman or Balcar power packs. If you really want one, keep looking at eBay and they'll turn up. They usually run at least $500, plus the cost of a powerpack like those mentioned above (usually start at $250+, used).

The 'macro' ones can be used for portraits to good effect. You see these on eBay for very little money sometimes.

In big cities like NY, LA, Chicago, you can rent a ringflash and powerpack for not a lot of money. Places like Flash Clinic, Calumet, Adorama in NYC rent these.

I've never known a ring flash that wasn't designed for macro work. Not those that are battery powered which you put on the front of the lens anyway. However, on searching I found this site:- http://www.adorama.com/catalog.tpl?op=academy&article=041904
and there is a paragraph on studio ring flashes, which are mains powered. Where you buy them from, I do not know.
