Chewing is a sign of several things,. Skin Allergies, Skin dryness, Damaged skin, Fleas, and or chronic mental bordom. Cats also are being found to have chronic nerve problems in there backs, if they were exposed to rough play and improper handling as a kitten, especially if a person was constantly "scruffing" or picking the cat up by the back of the neck. Kinda like restless leg syndrome in humans. Starts in a wavy like motion from the neck to the tail like the skin is twitching constantly. They will be normal, all of a sudden stop and chew thier back, or base of tail. Then continue on. Some even become severally agitated and run around the house like hey are crazy and nip people if they try to pet them when they are in this state. Anyway all of the above mention need to be seen by a proffesional vet, because they should all be treated to make them stop. Do it to rule out Medical reasons, then you know its behavorial.

The concept can seem weird, but the client getting the tattoo is the one to blame. How long has tattooing been around? A pretty darn long time, and it wont be going away any time soon. The reasons people get tattooed is the clients prerogative. It is my job to interpret those thoughts into something that they will enjoy for the rest of their lives. I admit to doing tattoos I didn't think were good ideas and I often reject tattoos that I think are bad ideas or are in bad locations. As long as we humans have a choice, we will get tattooed. It is the ultimate commitment, it last longer than your own existence. It's not the cool thing to do and it will never be the cool thing to do, it's a choice. And for those who judge people by seeing their tattoos on their necks and what not are the most narrow minded people. Seriously, judging someone should be based on character. Just because you have these tattoos doesn't change you. It doesn't make you any more of a bad *** or tough guy. They change peoples perception on you, and if your getting them to "show off" then you're getting them for the wrong reasons. Every human no matter of education, upbringing, background, occupation, etc has the choice to modify their body. It doesn't make them a loser or a degenerate or trash...it's the person judging them that needs to open their mind.

its not a big problem. if u see loosing of the hair or skin you might want to get some medicine so she will stop chewing on it. and like the guy said it is a habit and a comfort to her.it is like lets say....sucking your fingers as a little kid, it takes a while to stop.if she just sits there and does it and nothing is bleeding or looks like it hurts then just let her do it.

Some cats chew the tail. It's not a problem. But you should have her spayed.

this is typical of a cat that was removed from its mother too early. it has now been ingrained as a habit. so it doesn't have much meaning anymore except that it is used to doing it and its a "comfort" response

My cat does it all the time. He starts just licking it like he is cleaning then he'll start to nibble on it. It is normal.

i would not worry about it unless she is making herself scab or bleed... it may just be a nervous tick.. like biting your nails or something..or induced by stress.. sometimes when my cat gets stressed she will pull her fur out in clumps, but then she will quit and it grows back
if you are really concerned as your vet
