It can be. Sometimes, aftertaste of foods makes you want to crave or put something in your mouth. Or maybe it's just a force of habit from way back then.

The "aftertastes" of many foods affect the taste of what you eat next. For instance I like diet cokes, but if I've had a glass of orange juice recently, the coke tastes gawd awful.

Vice versa, some aftertastes actually enhance what you eat next

Do you eat salt in your eggs? When I eat salty foods I sometimes want something sweet afterwards and vice versa.
