There is no age limit for autism. But if you are able to use this forum, and you do have autism, it is very mild. If you want to know, see a psychiatrist, they can diagnose and treat autism.

You are never to old to get tested, many people have gone years and years without a diagnoses because the understanding about autism was just not avalible as it is now ( though there is much much more to understand)

I am just guessing, but I do not think you would have Autism, you have too much emotional knowledge and understanding of yourself , you may however have Aspergers.
Autism is on a spectrum.
Pervasive development disorders or PDD is what autism and aspergers fall under
If Autism is the worst on the spectrum then aspergers is the least worst... It is hard to explain and rather complicated at times.

Classic autism is rather easy to spot, aspergers is not.
www.autismontario.com is a site where you can get information on PDD
There are many other sites, I am sure there is a chapter that is located around where you live.
You can call or go into the office and ask for more information.
I can not of course diagnose so my thoughts are not part of autism ontario the are my own.

You're never too old to be tested for autism. By the way, have you read "Songs of the Gorilla Nation"? It was written by a young woman who suffers from a form of autism known as Asperger's Syndrome. Great read.

Autism is a spectrum disorder, this means there are may levels and degrees of how badly you can be affected. If you had full blown autism it would have been picked up years ago. There is something similar called aspergers syndrome, try googling it.I have heard of adults being diagnosed with it. Most sufferers describe a sense of always being aware that something wasn't quite right,or a sense of 'differentness'.Good luck.

You're never too old. One type of autism is Asperger's Syndrome. Look up the symptoms and see if that rings any bells with you. A surprising number of adults have this.

It is never to late to be tested for anything that you feel that you may have. You can start with your family doctor and have blood tests done and go on from there. The family doctor will then direct you to another doctor who specializes in treatment for what he finds wrong, if anything. It is a great possibilty that you have nothing wrong with you and perhaps you are just thinking wrongly due to your life history. Be kind to yourself and start with the family doctor. Poor out your feelings and what you know about yourself and go from there. Good luck, you owe it to yourself to search.

You can be tested at any age. If you feel this could be affecting you, you should not wait any longer and get the answer to this question.

Good luck!
