Hey sexy J-Man. I would believe you if you told me I was pretty, providing you said it in a genuine way. Many guys have beer glasses and think anything in a skirt is pretty, particularly if they have been drinking. Women have heard this many times, even the less attractive ones. That is how a guy plays his magic on the woman by making her feel special and loved. Lets face it every woman is looking for love, attention and to feel special. The Right man has a way of making her feel these things.
Or it could be you are a ladies man who tells every available female you see that they are attractive. Either way it seems to work in your favour.

I imagine the girls you are telling this to are finding it hard to tell when you are being sincere. The words "you're pretty" are thrown around by guys just about as much as the words "I love you", are thrown around by everybody. You admitted yourself that you say it just to flirt sometimes. If you don't really believe that, then those words lose their magic for the one (or ones) that you really do think that way about them. Girls also like to know that they are unique to you and don't want to be clasasified into a group of "pretty" girls. In addition, (I know this is confusing) but every girl's definition of "pretty" is going to be different and in some circumstances can backfire to become an insult instead. Pretty to one might mean "most beautiful", while to another means "she's got looks but no attraction" or maybe they'd rather been called gorgeous. Same goes for the words cute, beautiful, stunning, etc,....Maybe try to use a different compliament for each of your "girls". It will give them a sense of where they stand with you. Just make sure you clarify each of them so while you mean cute, "like a bunny but not serious", she don't think "lets get married!" I know that is an extreme example but you get the point. You say you're not a player, but what you don't realize is that you ARE playing these girls when they have to second guess their position with you all the time and are not given a unique status. You say you're a straight forward guy, then give it to them straight. Shouldn't be too hard for you if you really truly are that REAL.

I think women today do have a low self esteem, because of all the magazines and things showing all these celebrities and models, and telling us that is what beauty is, most of us know we don't look like those women on t.v. in movies, or magazines, and unfortunately a lot of us have come to the conclusion that if we don't look like that, we are not pretty. As a woman, I like it when anyone says I'm pretty, I don't let it go to my head, but it makes me feel good to know that someone took the time to notice what I look like. Keep on looking at those pretty girls, and telling them they're pretty if you think so, you never know how good that feels to some of us.

Because every woman out there has heard it a million times. Whether it be from someone sincere to someone just trying to get into their pants, They've heard it. No matter what she looks like, she has heard it a lot.
So even if you are being sincere, her tendency to put any significant weight on your words is only dependant upon how much she is into you.
