God speaks to you in three ways.... People, His word (the bible), and circumstances.... such as now...if you have prayed for the answer to this question and wanted God to talk back... I believe that the Holy Spirit has spoken to you through me and that God spoke to you through a person..... oh yeah.... that guy who said that you have to be deluded was only saying that because he has never experienced a moment with God so dont get discouraged.

I had that same question for a long time, until I was at a women's retreat last year and trust me you will know, it is the greatest feeling knowing that God takes the time to talk one on one with you. Believe it or not he has probably talked to you more than you know but we tend not to listen.

They *know* God is answering because they feel a calm, a "peace that passeth human understanding."

It's the same way that the greeks, norse, aztecs knew their god was real. It's the same way the Heaven's Gate people knew their death comet was from god. And it either "proves all gods" equally, or it proves that humans have the same ability to self-comfort (self-delude).

That is the hardest part of prayer. It's easy to ask for stuff or tell God your pissed at him but it's not easy to listen to him. The holy spirit is within you and you can hear him speak to you. The more you read the Bible and study the nature of God, the easier it is to hear him.

Sadly, you're never going to hear a loud booming voice, he isn't theorised as being human. He speaks through prophets, the bible, and of course, the conscience within your soul.

You can't "talk" to something that doesn't exist. Or, you can talk to it but it would be like talking to a dragon. What you are really doing is talking to yourself.
