Sounds like a tricky spot to be in. There really isn't any other way around it, unless the child is almost ready to graduate high school and then you might as well finish paying. But if the child is rather young, the money you will save in child support will more than cover the cost of these tests. Suck it up and get the tests done. BTW, be prepared for opposition from the mother, especially if she knows the child is not your husband's.

If he was adjudicated the father through the court that would be very difficult for him. He would probably need to hire an attorney and offer valid reasons why he feels that the child is not his. If he's lucky the judge will order a DNA test to establish the child's true paternity...

Pay for the DNA peternity test. If he isn't the father, the test will pay for itself with recovered child support.
Too many recessive genes could influence the appearance of the chid to use appearance as a measure of paternity. One of my kids looks completely like my side of the family with no obvious traits from the father's side of the family. Some of my nieces and nephews look so much like their fathers that you would never know they were related to me at all. I know someone who looks exactly like their great grandfather and nothing like either parent.

When he was orderd to pay child support he should have asked for a paternity test. Paternity test can be rather expensive but if he feels strongly that the child is NOT his then he should make sacrifices to pay for the test....generally they aare about $600.

The judge will consider the best interest of the child, which mean they may award custody to the guy who has been raising the kid. Even if he isn't the biological father.

Tell him since he wants a paternity test he can figure out a way to pay for it. Nothing is for free.

i believe that if you take it to court and they find that he's not the father ... he wont have to pay for the test and he'll be owed paid child support. at least that's what i've been told:) GOOD LUCK!!
