Mostly Jesus Christ brought a message of peace, but perhaps he means this here: there is the peace that comes of inaction against evil, by which no good can come; the sword represents the righteous impulse to reprove your brother when he does wrong.

Exactly what it says! Jesus also said; "he that has no SWORD, let him sell his garment and buy one". Luke 22.36. Jesus supported insurrection against Roman rule, he died for the same reason. There are 400 !!!! instances of the word SWORD , within the Bible, testament to the Judean armed struggle, of which Jesus was an unsuccessful participant.

The sword of Truth which is the Word of God, which is Jesus, which is probably why we tend to start a war everytime we open our mouths, when we are truly trying to bring peace to souls who ask for help, whether it be 'practical' help, or ' trying to understand the reasons behind things' help. There's alot more besides, I hope this helps.

It is up to us to make sure peace and good triumphs over war and evil

He didn't come to do it for us, He came to give us the "weapon" to win the good fight: Love

He was a weapon of peace, not of war
