You need to talk to your doctor(!) and get back on your prescribed medication, and assuming your weight was stable before and you haven't changed your diet or activity level, your body should go back to the prior weight. It takes some time for your metabolism to rev up again so it won't happen overnight, and with a thyroid condition, you don't want to do something crazy like increasing the dosage on your own or taking a metabolism boosting supplement. I went through this myself when my doctor wasn't monitoring my thyroid medication often enough and I gained 20 pounds in 3 months.

First of all 115 is too low of a weight for someone 5' 6". You should probably be between 125-145.

Thyroid meds usually do not help with weight loss, though I've seen a few women lose just by switching to Armour thyroid. Weight loss didn't happen for me with the switch, but I do feel a lot better on Armour than I did on Levoxyl.

For weight loss, you need the morning TSH around 1.0 or the Free T4 midrange and the Free T3 high in range

Below are a few thyroid links for you to learn more about being hypothyroid. The more you know the better care you will get from your doctor and from yourself.

Yes, but it is difficult to do. Eat breakfast at 6:30 am every morning. Eat lunch no later than 12pm, drink a lot of water all day long. Eat dinner at 6:30pm. You have to get yourself on a schedule, and eat healthy. Don't eat a bunch of sugar or fatty foods. Also, a good exercise program doing an aerobic exercise for a minimum of twenty minutes per day is good too.

The secret is diet and exercise. Eat correctly . . . . good portions of white meat and seafood, lots of vegetables, not much bread, not much dairy. And then WALK!!! Try to walk at least 2 miles a day, three times a week. You will increase your metabolism, and you will find that you feel a lot better, too!!

Exercise can boost metabolism.

I too have hypothyroid, so I appreciate you asking this question. I'll be anxious to see the responses!

If you have your medicine and take it faithfully then all you need do is decrease your calorie intake and exercise more and you should lose some weight.

135 is not a bad weight for someone 5'6" so don't try to trick your metabolism into going too low. It can backfire.
