My pick would be the Beretta AL391. It is a semi automatic and the one that most wing shooting operations in Mexico and Argentina are going to for there dove shoots. The reason is reliability under extreme numbers of shots. It is also a very popular choice with the sporting clays crowd. It is a bit higher priced than what you mentioned, around $900, but in this instance I think worth it.
I have fired several thousand rounds through Remington 1100's and I like them, but they require more maintenance to keep them working perfectly. The AL 391 will shoot all you want and ask for more.

I agree that the best bang for the buck shotgun would be the Remington 870. I have several and love them, but the pump action might hinder your efforts at skeet and other shotgun games. For hunting they are pretty hard to beat.

So, if you put more emphasis on hunting than skeet or sporting clays then the 870 would be my pick. For more all around shooting then I would go with the AL 391.

If you are looking to spend no more than $600, I would go with a Remington 870 Express. It's a no frills pump- action shotgun that gets the job done for right around $400. You could spend more for a Wingmaster model, but you're basically paying more for the same gun that just looks more pretty. If you plan on hunting turkeys like you mentioned, I would opt for the 12ga. over the 20ga. models.

Remington 870 or 11-87 depending if you want auto or pump. Both guns are top of the line and they are what you will see in the hands of 80% of the hunting world for birds. I noticed you said turkey so on that note I would go for a 11-87, just for the quick followup shot.

Happy shooting !

Mossberg 835. It can handle up to 3.5 shells, its ported, overbored, interchangeable chokes and reliable. Plus its super cheap compared to a Browning or Benneli, its even par with a Remington 870 Wing Master Magnum.

Cons? Some folks want an automatic for skeet.

A browning BPS. 12 gauge It loads and ejects out the bottom so you can shoot it left or right handed.Invecta chokes are good long chokes that hold up well.I haven't shot any doves with it but it is an awsome turkey gun with a .660 choke it is priced right
