English is understood and spoken almost everywhere. You will also find other languages spoken as well: mostly Italian, French, German and Spanish. Note: The spanish is NOT what you learn in most U.S. schools. They mainly teach spanish from Mexico and even they have different slang throughout their country...Make a fool of yourself if you want to learn :) It's the only way! Have fun if you're going!!

The official language in the Dominican Republic is Spanish. You should go there sometime if you haven't been-----It's beautiful there.
