We don't have enough troops for our war. Many young men and women want to become a part of our country. I believe that if any eligible young man or woman wants to be an American bad enough to fight for our country, we should welcome them to our ranks as much as we would anyone. I would personally buy a Mexican U.S. Marine a beer just as quickly as I would one from New Jersey.

Oh, someone called me a fat lazy couch potato, thank you for that.
I actually am a U.S. Marine.
I've been out since Clinton was president, but I did serve, and was proud to do so.
I personally believe every American should serve their country in some way in order to get financial aid for college, be it military or peace corps, but, that is a whole different question.

there is a fast step program for just such a thing. in fact, several people have died in iraq that were fighting in our military that were not US citizens but were in the process. i say yes, if a person believes so strongly in the cause then let them fight for the same freedoms we have and many of our ancestors have fought and died for.

No! If they broke the law to stay illegally, what would stop them from turning the weapons on you? As, prior service myself, Secured mil jobs should be offered to prior service, disabled and retired mil only and processing them should be easier! It would stop a lot o Identity theft of our troops! That would free up those kitchen, janitorial and desk jobs of younger troops, who can accomplish the job in the field.
Go out and rent the movie Red Dawn, sometimes science fiction is truer than fact!

They can in the Navy and, I think, the Army too. CNN reports we have around 33,000 in our military right now. My husband got out of the Navy a few years back. He served with a couple of people who were not citizens. One was a guy from Eastern Europe who came here(U.S) to go to school but ran out of money and then his visa expired. Another was a guy from Panama. BUT, while they are in they have to honor this country. The guy from Panama was disciplined twice for flying the Panama flag. You can also get in trouble if they catch you not speaking English.
They also have to wait like everyone else and take all the required tests. But, it does happen, and I believe it is a fair exchange.
Perhaps WorldsgreatestHero should join them too, then he might be able to appreciate ALL the men and women who fight and die so he has the freedom to be a jacka**.

No! I don't want our military becoming the Mexican army. Why would you make such an offer when they come across the border with impunity now AND don't serve???

Yes, how about, training them to fly F-16's or to use the military satellite network?
Who in their sound minds would think that these people will sell these vital info to their home countries?
That would be a smart move.

I don't think any more troops should be deployed for a war that never should have been in the first place, but since it has and will not end anytime soon, maybe that's not such a bad idea. Illegal citizens pretend to love this country, so maybe this will give them a real sense of patriotism. Good for you...maybe u should run for office.

Absolutely not, if they are illegal, they cannot serve in the military without citizenship.
