Is the principle of the matter worth your future? You will have a criminal record for the rest of you life. That record will show up every time a background check is done on you and would possible prevent you from getting great jobs. I think that what ever happens sucks, but its better to pay it now then wait and have fees applied to that amount and serving time. If you get locked up are you certain that you will not have to pay the fines when you get out?
I say pay the money. Even though it sucks and seems wrong.

It really is not worth risking it! Non payment of fines are dealt with by the Court Bailiffs. You do not want a visit from the court bailiff surely? Just pay up! if you are not able to pay in full - contact the court and offer instalments which you can both comfortably afford. The court will always be sympathetic. It is not wise to default on your payments. If you prefer you can go in person and explain your financial situation. Good luck!

If you and your brother committed a crime, and you know you were wrong, then why not pay the fine. Going into jail only gives you a 15 year record on you when you come out, and this will relate in difficulty in obtaining a ny employment. is it worth all the agony of this. So have the sence to see sence in paying the fine instead of cluttering up our prisons, because of silly morals.

Most definately. Even if you dont feel that you are guilty. And that is quite a bit of money so Im guessing you could be locked up for a long time. Also if you dont pay it, say someone totaled your new car, are you going to report it and got to jail? Even if you do go to jail you will probably still have to pay it.

I would pay it, you're young, no reason to go to jail.

Even if you are right. Get used to it - there are many times when you will have to pay up or 'lose' in the eyes of society even when you are in the right. The thing to do is move forward, making the most logical decision to leave it behind and get on with your life.

ask your solicitor.
in my experience they tell you this when you go to court.
if you cannot do the time then do not do the crime
