The dog "Mother Theresa" was played by two 6-month old Newfoundland puppies named Molly (who did most of the work) and Maeve (who performed the water scene). Director Gary David Goldberg adopted both puppies at the end of filming.

I had heard that they came from a rescue group, which would be good because they are NOT very good examples of Newfs. Really. They were cute and all, but they are not what a Newf should look like.

You know I had to see that movie because of the newf and it was hardly in the movie.
