Getting really bad breath in the morning is completely normal. To help prevent this though, brush your teeth 3 times a day, instead of two. Once in the morning, once in the afternoon, and once before bedtime. Same with flossing. Gum, actually is only a temporary thing. It only keeps you breath smelling fresh for a small amount of time. I suggest trident or orbit, because other gum has sugar that is too high and can make your breath worse.

The bad breath is because your mouth is stagnant all night, with the bacteria festering and breeding in your mouth. (Yes, there's a single celled orgy ion your tongue every night.)

Brush your teeth two to three times daily. Morning and evening are best, at Lunch is good if you can manage it.

When you brush your teeth, you should spend at least two minutes doing it.

Floss daily. Before bed is best, as that means the food particles won't be rotting away between your teeth all night.

Mouthwash is good daily, but if you're good about brushing you shouldn't need it.

Be sure to brush your tongue as well as your teeth, as most bad breath comes from bacteria on the tongue, particularly towards the back.

Besides what others have said:

Use mouthwash Before and After you brush.
Brush soon after eating dinner, and again before you go to bed.
You may need to go to a dentist. some bacteria cause more bad breath than others.
