Well im sorry to tell you but the only way to go lighter is strip the hair dark hair will not turn light brown it will turn red with any kinda blonde or whatever you try on it especially if it is a level 4 or 5 you may want to get some lightbrown highlights this way your not permantley damaging all of your hair they will bleach out just strips of it and add the light brown to it. it kinda stinks you cant lift color with color just remember that and please do this perfessionally dont do this at home

If you have very dark hair, go to Sally's Beauty Supply store and look for a level 6 and use 30 volume developer. I recommend the 30 volume because I really don't know how dark your hair is. You could probably get away with 20 volume and leaving it on your hair for the maximum time the instructions say. Do not go any higher than a level 7 for light brown hair. Also if you highlight your hair it will also cause the illusion of your hair being lighter.

My advice to you would be to have it done professionally. It may cost you more but it will look so much better. If you mess it up on your own it will cost more to get it fixed anyway. Good Luck.
