Go To Another Doctor Now!!! a kidney stone usually passes on it's own, ( you'll know when it does, it HURTS), however, sometimes it may get lodged in the kidney and you'll need medical help to remove it. Your doctor should have advised you better. That was unprofessional. You didn't say if he was treating you for a kidney infection, which can feel like a kidney stone. Go to another doctor!!!

If they visualized the stone and determined that it is small enough to pass thru your ureters then that is the best way to deal with it....you need to drink a large amount of water to help it flush thru, and walk alot as motion will help it to move as well. As long as it does not obstruct the flow of urine it is not appropriate to employ invasive treatment such as lithotripsy. I would say you should be straining your urine (the doctor can give you the appropriate sieve) to watch for the stone passing, and if it doesn't pass in a couple of weeks then it's time to go back and ask the doctor to find out why. If Ibuprofen or Tylenol do not give you adequate relief from the discomfort, then call and ask the doctor for something a little stronger like tylenol #3 or #4.

Kidney stones are no big deal to people who don't have them. They are a very big deal to you, they are very painful can damage your kidney if they are large enough and last a long time. You need to see a doctor and make sure it can pass ok on it's own.

Well, I have had several kidney stones and they hurt like crazy. I would hope they are giving you pain medication. I would definitely see a urologist if you have not seen one yet. You basically have to wait for it to pass if it is not too large. Then they figure out what your stone is made of and go from there

I couldn't just sit around and do nothing like my doctors suggested.
They didn't want me to do anything or to take herbs or herbal remedies, but I had to try something - they just wanted me to do dialysis!
This program allowed me to take control of my health. I went from Stage 4 to Stage 3 kidney disease.
It was easy to do and my BUN, creatinine and anemia are all in better ranges.

It can take time for a kidney stone to pass. Drink plenty of liquids and take pain meds for the pain. There is not much you can do but wait for it to pass. Yes it is painful but unless the pain is unbearable you can't do much till it passes. If the pain is unbearable you can ask for stronger pain meds.
