I think I understand your question and it is more than just a book of rules to abide by. It is a moral code that defines right and wrong. It is not a relativistic moral view that says that whatever any does then that is ok. It says there are things that are right and there are things that are wrong. Now please don't misunderstand, I firmly believe that everyone has the right to believe and follow whatever they feel is right, however, this also means that those who feel there is a moral code should speak out about it and those who hear the message can do what they want with it.

It is indeed a challenge to live by so many rules, hence the grace which God provides in the New Testament through Jesus Christ.
The Old Testament is a mirror to our lives, revealing that as a wicked people trying to do good, we continually fail in spite of our best efforts.
Once we realize that these rules are impossible to follow, perfectly, we wonder... "How on earth is a person suppose to actually do this?" The answer, God says in the New Testament is, "You can't!" Which is what I was trying to share with you for so long, but never fear, because I have provided you with a door of escape through My Son, Jesus Christ, if only you would seek His face and believe in Him!" ----Yes, that was paraphrased!
As far as the "rules" that God has set forth... Like any parent (In this case our Heavenly Father) He has provided rules so that we might follow them and not suffer the consequences that He is wise enough to see would follow should we not follow them.
All the "rules" that you have mentioned are shared in the Scriptures and there are personal testamonies of people who failed to follow those rules. We can look at the stories of our brothers and sisters before us and learn from their mistakes. (Don't we do this within our own families today?)
God has provided us, lovingly with these accounts so that we might read them, learn from the errors made before us and be able to escape the consequences of past failures. I think that is very loving and a pretty good "Cheat sheet" if you ask me.
He doesn't just say, DON'T DO THIS or THAT. He shares the "Rule" and then shares Why he has made it a rule through example after example.
____________________________________________
FASCINATING EXAMPLE OF GOD'S LAW BEING IN PLACE FOR OUR BEST INTEREST!
There is a "rule" in the O.T. which states that a Jewish family is not to circumscise their baby until day 8. This is a fascinating law that God shared with His people. He didn't explain why He selected day 8, He just said, "Do this on day 8, no sooner and no later..."
Fascinating to note that Science learned, not too many years ago, that it is on day 8 that a newborn infant accumulates the necessary amount of vitamin K in order for the blood to coagulate and the infant not bleed to death should he suffer an injury.
God has rules for a reason and we may not understand them all at the time, but rest assured, when He says to do something or to not do something, it is in our best interest to LISTEN TO HIM AND OBEY! Not because He is a Dictator, but because HE LOVES US.

"there's a Catholic Bible,That has an Apocrypha...curiously God whispered that bit to the Catholics at the same time as the different christians were contained in the lavatory!!" The apocrypha become contained in the KJV till 1880's. Archbishop of canterbury got rid of it. There are different "books" that were considered Scripture till 4th and fifth centuries (by technique of both Jews and Christians) that ultimately were given got rid of for numerous causes and agendas. Many can nonetheless be chanced on and browse. One such become the e book of Enoch (even quoted by technique of Jude in his epistle). If someone really desires the reality, then that man or woman will spend as a lot time and prayer as is critical to locate it. It might even make a perverted sort of sense if the rules were consistent. However, the bible has no such consistency. Even at the core of the OT, there are two radically different versions of the ten commandments. The NT confuses things even more. Jesus, at some points, seems to indicate that the OT rules are no longer in effect but people still pick and choose among them to make their arguments.

Different train of thought; Studying it (the Bible) is not wrong. What should be questioned is what things have been added to it (and taken from it. Both concepts apply).
One also should realize that man sees 5 things; but God sees 6. (1 Sam. 16:7). (The six things; who, what, when, where, how, and WHY).

First of all, the Bible is the Word of God. He wrote it through man, but its His Word. If you try to live the "laws" it will be hard! That's why you have to walk In God's grace!! It's a wonderful gift He has given us! All the people in the Old Testament tried walking by the law, and they failed. That's why when Jesus died for us on the cross, we don't have to walk by the law anymore! We just walk under God's grace and He does it all for us! We just have to rest!
For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. John 1:17
For he that is entered into His rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from His. Hebrews 4:10
Wherefore,as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law. Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned, after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come. But not as the offense, so also is the free gift. For if through the offense of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many. Romans 5:12-15

Not bound by rules. But set free, and whom Christ has set free, is free indeed. "Religion" is a place of rules. When you know the Lord, you will not want to sin against Him. No 'have to's', just 'want to's'.

It just seems right to follow the word of a loving father who raised up 44 men over thousands of years, to tell us about him and his love.
I wish my health would let me do what my brothers do everyday.
But I am confined to my home and limited to this machine.
Hopefully what I teach is appreciated. My words are as close to his as I can get them.........
