Is it interrupting your sleep?
-Yes: See a doctor for a check-up, I suggest a chiropractor.
-No:Aleve Backpain works wonders, or even Midol 24 hour. (note: even if your a man, it works for backaches)
Do you have headaches associated with your backpain?
Yes: It might be a cold in your muscles, some sort of anti-inflammatory would work for this, or maybe Alka-Seltzer cold and flu. That with some icy-hot creme, and a heating pad on low would work.
No-Heating Pad and Tylenol.
Do you sleep in a bound position? (ex. one leg up,one your side with a leg to the side, curled in a ball, laying on your stomach with your arms under the pillow head to the side)
This can cause muscles to refract and bind, not allowing them to ease back to a normal stretched out mode, (ie sitting, standing) Try sleeping on your back with your arms to your sides.
I ask all these questions because I had severe back muscle pain and fatigue all over my back, and upper buttocks, so I went to a doctor when I couldn't even move, and passed out, It turns out I have Fibromyalgia.
So consider all the factors of your pain, where it hurts, when it hurts during certain activity, and maybe you could call dial a nurse. Its free, and they give you an over the phone assessment.
Good luck, I hope you feel better.

This could be because of muscle fatigue or dehydration. Why don't you try some time tested home remedies? I found this website very useful. http://aches.in/cramps.html
