I had one last Monday and it went away.

Then today, (the next Monday) I have like 3!

I know I have been nervous due to school stuff (applying for
grad blah blah blah)

Is it possible to have more than 1 cold sore? And where do they come from?

Unfortunately yes. The virii, Herpes Simplex I sleeps dormant in the trigeminal nerve area, the area above the articulating joint of your jaw. When the virus becomes active, it will travel down the Trigeminal nerve and depending on which nerve it comes down on, be it upper lip or lower lip, that is where the outbreak will occur.

There is no "cure" per se, however, there are medicines that can be gotten to curb the severity and duration.

Myself, I am plagued with cold sores, and I find that when I feel that funny tingle as the cold sore develops, to take L-Lysine tablets. There is promising research that demonstrates that L-Lysine may shorten the duration and severity.
Use a lip balm like Carmex, something with Phenol and Salicylic acid in it, that will help dry up the sore quicker.

Yes it is possible to have more than one. They are caused by the herpes virus and that is contagious so it may have spread if you accidently touched your first cold sore and then touched another part of your lip. Also if your immune system is down you may be prone to more. See your doc since you have more and get medicine to help lessen the severity of your outbreak. In the meantime keep your hands away from your face and wash them throughly if you do touch your face. Do not share your washcloth, drinking glass or eating utensils with any one and do not kiss anyone while your cold sores are active. They are very contagious.

See your doctor and get a prescription for zovirix. At the first tingle start using it and it will prevent outbreaks. If you get an outbreak use it and you can clear in as little as two days rather than 1 to 2 weeks. If you ever get a spinal tap ask them to kill the virus when in there. It lives in your spinal fluid and that is why there is nothing to get to it. It is much much too dangerous to have a spinal tap than to live with the virus so they cannot do a tap just for the virus. That is not allowed. But - if you are having a tap and tell them, they can kill the virus. Z-O-V-I-R-I-X

Most who suffer from cold sores have more than one at at time, they tend to show up in clusters and really severe cases can cover the entire lip. Cold sores are an expression of the herpes type 1 virus, which you contract as a child when you get the chicken pox. After you get over the chicken pox, the virus lives in a dormant state in your nervous system and various things can cause it to express itself, things like nerves, too much sunshine, high acid foods and so on. Be very careful and maintain good hygiene as you can transmit the oral virus to your genitals.

yup, I get cold sores aa couple times a year, and sometimes its only one and other times it 3 or 4 little ones in the same spot ( cluster) just get some medication to dry it up faster. there are cheaper medications than abreva that work really well.
