lols...just got some responses lol. a burka does not have to be a long cloak. u can still look decent with a scarf, and a large dress with pants under it...who knows???maybe itd work?

Yes, her name is Tugba Karademir. She is the first muslim woman to compete internationally in women's figure skating. She is an excellent skater and she is from Turkey. She placed I think in the 20s at the Olympics and can do triple jumps. She just wears normal dresses though. When she was younger, she wore long sleeved dresses and thick tights I think. I guess her parents must not be as strict, but anyway it doesn't matter what you wear as long as you skate well.

On a related note, there are a lot of orthodox religious people who skate in my area. They are not Muslims, but they are very orthodox in their own religion, and they do skate with their appropriate clothing. One boy, who is very orthodox, has gone quite far in ice dance, and competes in some major US competitions.

So even if you don't see a lot of orthodox Muslims skating, know that there are other people who closely follow their own religions, and who wear clothing specific to that religion, and who do skate.

I'm sure there have been, they just don't skate to muslim mudsic. Hey, if you're musilm, go for it! It doesn't matter what religion you are!
